Well, week 3 was a bit weak for us.  A little disappointing.  But in the end, we all feel better and definately eat better than we have in a long time.  Below are the pictures to compare, although I don't feel they are particularly showing of what we "FEEL" .

The End of Week Two

Well, here we are at the end of week two.. And no pictures today.  Shonda and Justin are out doing normal young-adult things However, we did pause long enough for the weekly weigh-in. We are thrilled at the results, although I would have liked to have had 9 lbs.  And here, just to share:

Start weight   1/13 weigh-in    1/20 weigh in      Lbs Lost
Mom           355            344               338               17
Shonda        315            302               297               19
Justin        272            263               255               17

Totals        942            909               890               53

WOW!!  We broke the 900 mark!  53lbs is a small child.  Who would have believed that in 2 weeks time, we could have such a difference!!  We count our calories and fat every day.  We excercise.  Shonda and Justin have been playing basketball together and walk/jog up and down our road.  With me working 45-55 hour weeks, I find I have to be more creative with my excercise.  The only time I will do it is if I get straight out of bed and start.  I've been walking/exercising for 10 minutes every morning.  I started out at 5 minutes the first week.  This week I'll try for 15.  Remember now, I was extremely out of shape.  I also am taking the stairs at work, and parking further away, where-ever I go. We've all also been lifting 10 lb weights whevnever we are sitting watching TV.  But I really think it's the calorie watching.  Portion control, that's what it's all about.  And better foods. More fruits and veggies. Less meat.  Eating sugar-free jello when we need to satisfy that sweet tooth.  Everything I've always known was the way we SHOULD be eating. I already feel better and I can't wait to see what it's like in the coming weeks.

Some thoughts Mid Week

You know, I'm still very encouraged.  I can't believe how many people are out there doing the same things we are, struggling, changing lifestyles.  This is a very good thing that the Biggest Loser program has created.  For us, it's not about winning a prize.  We honestly don't expect anything like that.  (Although I've really thought about auctioning off our weight loss on E-bay..Open-mouthed)  What we DO expect is for our lives to be longer and healthier. I almost think the Million Pound matchup is too easy.  I believe we will loose MUCH more than a million pounds all together.  Can't wait to get home tonight and see the Biggest Loser!!!

 OUR STORY
THIS STORY IS REALLY MY STORY.  MY NAME IS KATHY AND I'M A FULL TIME WORKING
MOTHER.  I'VE BEEN OVERWEIGHT ALL MY LIFE.  I'VE TRIED EVERY DIET YOU CAN I
IMAGINE AND SOME THAT YOU DON'T EVEN WANT TO KNOW ABOUT.  MY MOTHER WORKE
FOR A WELL KNOWN WEIGHT PROGRAM AND I WAS EDUCATED IN NUTRITION.  I WAS
FIRST PUT ON PERSCRIBED DIET PILLS WHEN I WAS 5 YEARS OLD. NOTHING HAS
WORKED FOR ME.

I GREW UP ON A FARM AND WAS A VERY ACTIVE CHILD/YOUNG ADULT.  BUT AS I GET
OLDER, MY LIFESTYLE HAS BECOME MORE SEDENTARY.  I SIT AT A DESK SOMETIMES 12
HOURS A DAY, GET NO EXCERCISE, AND EAT WHATEVER I WANT.  SEE WHERE THAT HAS
GOTTEN ME? EVEN WHEN I WAS ACTIVE, I WAS OVERWEIGHT.  BUT IN BETWEEN "DIETS"
I WOULD ALWAYS EAT WHATEVER I WANTED.

BUT I BELIEVE THAT I'M AT A POINT IN MY LIFE THAT I AM
READY TO CHANGE OLD HABITS, AND REALLY STICK WITH SOMETHING THAT WILL WORK.
I'M ALMOST 46, AND THIS WEIGHT WILL KILL ME IF I DON'T GET TAKE CONTROL. BOTH
SHONDA AND JUSTIN HAVE BEEN URGING ME TO DO SOMETHING. THEY WERE BOTH READY
TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THEIR WEIGHT, AND I DON'T WANT TO SEE THEM END UP LIKE
ME.  WE'VE BEEN WATCHING "THE BIGGEST LOSER" FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF SEASONS,
AND WE SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO.  WE ALL AGREED THAT WE NEED TO BE MORE FIT, AND
THAT WE NEED TO LOOSE THIS EXCESS WEIGHT.

SO THIS IS TO DOCUMENT OUR PROGRESS, TO KEEP US ON TRACK, AND HOPEFULLY
TO GET SOME SUPPORT ON OUR JOURNEY TO HEALTH.
